Lessons to Learn From Jon & Kate’s Divorce

Celebrity divorces are often nasty and Jon and Kate Gosselin’s is no different. Celebrities aren’t the only people who go through ugly divorces. Even if you haven’t been through one, someone you know probably has.

Talk “I” instead of laying blame on your soon to be ex. Too many times this drags children into the middle and that can only put children through tons of unnecessary difficulties by making them feel like they have to choose between their parents. That can have life-long ramifications for them. It can literally split them in two.

According to Dr. Stephen Treat, it’s important to get some counseling to learn little ways to support each other and be positive about each other with the children.

No one said it was going to be easy. In fact, by their very nature, divorces are never easy, but it is possible to civil and remain sane. Whether your ex is out partying and flaunting his new, younger girlfriends (and expensive T-shirts) or late paying his child support, it’s important to go outside of yourself and be the bigger, better person and figure out a way to co-parent.
