Nowadays with everyone being so busy I highly recommend texting. The nice thing about using a text to talk to the opposite sex is you can take a few minutes to think of a good response. It allows you time to think of something witty and charming. If you are an excellent talker though at times you might want to consider calling. But keep in mind if the other person is shy or doesn't think their communication skills are up to par they would also prefer a text instead. You should definitely start off texting though. You can always progress to calling after a few back and forth texts. It is very easy to say hey this is annoying texting I am calling you.
