So, sort of in jest on the What I’ve Learned About Online Dating post, I mentioned creating a dating resume to take on first meets. Then I thought, you know, that ain’t a half bad idea. Could serve as sort of a profile of sorts as well. I did a little research and found that many folks out there have created and posted dating resumes. Damn skippy I’m writing a resume.
Well, tons. Since I’ve been married four times and have been single and dating off and on for 20+ years, I think it’s safe to say I’ve racked up some experience along the way. On the plus side, I definitely know what it is I’m looking for…and what I’m not.
I’m looking for a man who loves life and laughter, who can be sweet and romantic or fun and a little outrageous. He should be confident and know what he wants in life. I love a man who has a positive outlook on life and can laugh at himself.
On the physical side, I prefer tall men. Silly I know, considering I’m a mere 5 foot tall, but there you have it. I like athletically built men. I’m an equal opportunity dater and do not discriminate based on race or color. I have a preference for younger men. That doesn’t necessarily mean you will not be dismissed out of hand if you have a few of years on me. That being said, my definition of “a few” is 2 or 3…maybe 4 if you’ve really got it going on.
I have a sarcastic sense of humor and love someone who can match wits with me. I am outgoing and social. I love nights on the town, so a man who enjoys getting out and getting a little nuts is definitely preferred.
I’m not looking for someone who is emotionally unavailable, married, and/or isn’t over his ex. Neediness and desperation are not attractive. If this describes you, move along. I also don’t need a doormat as I have one right where it belongs…outside the front door. If I need to step all over something or wipe my feet, I can already do that.
If you feel a need to always be in control or have been compared to Narccisus, please do not apply. I’ve had enough of that crap to last 2 lifetimes.
Looking for a mother? Stop right there. I’ve already raised my children and have no desire to raise you.
Understand that I’m a strong, independent woman. I have a life already thank you very much. I plan to continue living it. If you think I’ll put everything else aside and my world will begin revolving around you, think again.

This is PERFECT! I love how you count everything, as if someone would mis-read what you have clearly written. Makes me wonder how my resume would read in the dating world!

Love it! For a second there I was afraid you were going to list all of your previous, um, “employers”. That might be TMI (it would be with me, at least).
