Dating Quote of the Week

If you can’t accept my ‘no,’ you don’t deserve my ‘yes.’ –Anonymous

I love, love, love this quote and have been giving it a lot of thought especially in regard to Phone Guy from yesterday’s post. Last night we were chatting when The Math Teacher called. He ended up coming over so I logged off and shut down the computer. When I logged on this morning to check my email, Phone Guy’s last email last night said, “Do you want to call me tonight? I would like that alot, can’t say that i will talk long but would love to hear your voice.” Ummm, hello! Didn’t we already have this conversation? It frustrates me when I tell someone that something makes me uncomfortable or isn’t something I do, and they won’t let it drop. And I think the quote says that perfectly.

So how do you feel when a man pushes after you’ve made your thoughts clear? For me, it’s turning something that started out looking promising into a turn off. When someone can’t accept you and the quirky little things that make you you, it’s a red flag. If he can’t accept that I’m not comfortable talking on the phone yet, what else will he try to push me to do?

Bottom line, it’s about respect. I’m not a little girl who’s going to cave into peer pressure. As New York would say, I’m a grown ass woman. I’ve learned over the years what works for me and what doesn’t. Talking on the phone to someone I don’t know doesn’t. Being pushed into something I don’t want to do by a man I don’t even know yet doesn’t.
